Attraverso un comunicato ufficiale pubblicato sul proprio sito, l’Umana Reyer Venezia ha voluto ribadire la propria posizione in merito alla vicenda che vede coinvolto Julyan Stone. Ecco il testo integrale:
“A proposito della questione in corso con il tesserato Julyan Stone e in risposta alle sue affermazioni presenti sull’account personale Instagram (in calce al comunicato) è doverosa una premessa: da quando il papà di Julyan è stato colpito da un brutto e improvviso male, la società è sempre stata vicina e partecipe al dolore e alla situazione del giocatore. Da sempre l’Umana Reyer è sensibile ed attenta agli aspetti umani che riguardano non solo gli atleti ma tutti coloro che collaborano con la società.
All’atto della firma del contratto con cui l’atleta Julyan Stone si è legato alla società SSP Reyer Venezia Mestre srl entrambe le parti erano già consapevoli della brutta situazione sanitaria in cui versava il papà di Julyan.
L’Umana Reyer afferma con fermezza di aver comunicato da subito a Julyan Stone la volontà di dare a lui e alla famiglia assistenza economica, sanitaria ed assicurativa e soprattutto la disponibilità per poter non far mancare la sua presenza al fianco del papà in un momento così difficile.
Altrettanto fermamente la società dichiara di aver comunicato continuativamente con l’atleta Julyan Stone e i suoi agenti rappresentanti per trovare la migliore soluzione possibile.
La società non vuole altresì pensare che il non voler più essere legato all’Umana Reyer da parte di Julyan Stone sia condizionato dalla proposta che l’atleta ha ricevuto da una franchigia NBA (che a noi informalmente risulta avere sede all’incirca a 650 km dalla clinica dove è ricoverato il padre) poiché la disputa di un campionato di 82 partite logorante ed impegnativo, per le lunghe trasferte, non potrebbe in ogni caso garantire la vicinanza concreta e costante al padre.
Inoltre, la società Umana Reyer non ha mai utilizzato alcun organo di informazione, diretto ed indiretto, per rendere pubblica tale vicenda, come invece sostenuto da Julyan Stone.
Infine, l’Umana Reyer esprime il suo dispiacere per come si è evoluta questa vicenda, che coinvolge un atleta, e la sua famiglia, con cui da sempre c’è stato un rapporto di reciproca stima, rispetto e fiducia”.

“First and foremost my father is “just”not sick he doesn’t have a cold, he is not sneezing, he is not coughing. My father is in CCU for a collapsed lung, Failed heart that is pumping at 10% . His kidneys do not work. All three in which the doctor told us he will need transplants. After immediately contacting Venice about the situation that I and my family now find ourselves in, they began to not only ignore my calls, emails and whatapps. They also ignored those from my agent, my mother, and the hospital as well. What is bothersome to me is the lack of respect and dignity they have shown my family and I. They have downplayed the severity of my father’s health and made it more about basketball t. I’ve sent numerous proposals to the team in order to provide a resolution that can benefits everyone.My love for the city and the fans makes this difficult. The last thing I want is the fans not to have a winning team. I’ve help to build a culture of winning and gave the organization all I had. I made sure to play for the people of the city and play with as much passion and fire that the fans showed. It became more than just basketball for me in Venice it became about family and the close relationships that I built there. You the fans and the people embraced me as a second son and allowed myself to grow as the city and organization grew. I was happy to have felt I found an extended family within the people and organization. But I found the loyalty from the organization was not what it appeared to be. It’s really upsetting to me that they would use the media to save face and persuade the ppl to believe false truth”.
